The Maker

Hi! I'm Bo.

The name

Not a studio name.
A family one.

Bo isn't a studio name. It's what my nephew Matías called me when he was learning to talk, he couldn't quite get to De-bo-rah, so he landed on Bo.

He's nine now. His younger sibling, his cousins, their parents; they all call me Tía Bo.

I became Tía Bo before I became a designer so that felt right to keep.

The maker

From floor plans
to small objects.

I trained as an architect. I've spent years designing spaces, thinking in floor plans, materials, proportions. I love it.

But I kept coming back to small objects. Things you could hold. Things that lived on a table, not a blueprint.

When I moved to Milan, I thought the urge would pass. Turns out it wasn't the place. It was me.

Why candles

The simplest object
that does something.

Working with my hands slows my mind down.

Or it gets a little obsessed, in the best way.

A candle holds a shape, then it lets go of it. I like that.

Each one is made by me, from start to finish. No batches. No rush.
